CHRIST IS BORN! GLORIFY HIM!
The Virgin today gives birth to the Highest being and the earth provides the inaccessible One with a cave. The angels with the shepherds glorify Him, the wise men journey with the star because for our sake is born a little child, the Pre-eternal God. (Kondak of the Nativity)
This glorious Feast of the Nativity of Christ that we celebrate today speaks to us about salvation and the good will of God. In the hymnography of the Feast we learn that:
- Heaven and earth today rejoice prophetically
- Heaven and earth are united today
- All the angels in heaven are of good cheer and rejoice today
- A great and marvelous wonder has come to pass this day
- Today the Virgin gives birth to the Maker of all
All these things tell us that TODAY, salvation comes to a manger in Bethlehem. TODAY God offers His only begotten Son. TODAY our human nature is redeemed. TODAY all of creation rejoices at the good news.
Why?
Because today CHRIST IS BORN!
I pray that our book and these reflections have fed you spiritually during this journey through the Nativity Fast. I hope that your understanding of the Feast has grown and deepened.
May the newborn Christ find room in your heart and may He bring you peace, joy and hope. I wish each one of you a blessed Nativity Season.
