Day 6

Tomorrow we celebrate the Feast of the Entrance of the Mother of God that we have been discussing. Lets take a look at the Tropar for this Feast:

Today is the foreshadowing of the good pleasure of God and the herald of the salvation of men.
The Virgin is revealed in the temple of God, and beforehand she announces Christ to all.
Let us therefore cry to her with mighty voice: "Hail, fulfillment of the Creator's dispensation!"

What beautiful words that are given to us to explain the importance of this Feast. Today, this Feast of the Entry, is the indication of the good pleasure of God...the good pleasure of the salvation of men. By entering the Temple and dwelling there, the Virgin, although a child, is revealed as the future Mother of God, His dwelling place on earth. She announces to us that there is coming a time when God will dwell with His people in the flesh, here on earth. He will walk with us, talk with us, teach us, heal us. It is here, with the Virgin's Feast of Entry, that God's plan of salvation, enacted at the fall of man in the Garden of Eden, begins its fulfillment.

She is the fulfillment of God's dispensation, that is, she is the fulfillment of God's exemption for mankind from the usual rule. That usual rule was death. But with the anticipated birth of God in the flesh, mankind has the opportunity to transcend death, and choose life. The life in Christ. Salvation and the Kingdom of Heaven.

As we celebrate this beautiful Feast with Divine Liturgy tomorrow let us keep the words of the blessed Virgin on our lips and in our hearts:

My soul magnifies the Lord and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior!

In Christ
